Middle/High School

Wall of Cardinal Priorities

Staples-Motley Middle/High School
Empowering every student to thrive—in school and beyond.

At Staples-Motley Middle/High School, students are encouraged to grow with purpose, lead with integrity, and rise with pride. Our school offers a robust academic program and a dynamic array of extracurriculars—creating a place where every student can find their path to success.

We’re proud to offer:

  • A renowned fine arts program, including band, choir, orchestra, and visual arts
  • A thriving FFA chapter with hands-on learning and leadership opportunities
  • A state-ranked speech team with a tradition of excellence
  • Competitive athletics across all three sports seasons, with teams that exemplify teamwork, dedication, and Cardinal pride
  • A variety of student organizations that promote service, leadership, and engagement

Academically, we continue to expand our College in the Schools (CIS) offerings through partnerships with CLC and other area college systems, giving students the opportunity to earn college credits while meeting graduation requirements. In 2025–26, we are proud to launch a new Meat Cutting and Butchery program, funded by a grant from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, offering real-world skills and career pathways in the trades.

With a strong commitment to relationships, respect, and excellence, our incredible staff support students from grades 5–12 as they explore interests, discover passions, and prepare for life after graduation. Whether students are headed for college, careers, the military, or the unknown—we’re here to help them build their Cardinal Flight Path and soar.

The Staples-Motley Middle/High School is proud to announce our first annual Day of Caring on May 13, 2026.

This is a special event dedicated to teaching our students the importance of kindness, service, and giving back to the community.

During the event, we will have approximately 700 students and adults participate in a variety of activities throughout both our Staples and Motley communities. These activities will include, but are not limited to: raking yards, clearing flowerbeds, washing windows, and other outdoor community needs, as well as making cards and blankets for nursing home residents.
